Bystanders film fatal crash of Call of Duty co-creator Vince Zampella (55) in Los Angeles

American game magnate Vince Zampella was killed in a serious traffic accident in California on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at 12:45 local time.

The founder of Respawn Entertainment and co-creator of 'Call of Duty' was driving on the mountainous Angeles Crest Highway when his Ferrari 296 GTS went off the road and crashed into a concrete guardrail. The car immediately caught fire and Zampella died on the spot. A passenger was thrown out of the vehicle and later sumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

California police are still investigating the cause of the accident. Images have surfaced of the red Ferrari coming out of a tunnel at high speed and abruptly losing control a moment later. The car shoots off the road, ends up against the guardrail and catches fire almost immediately. The blow was so violent that Zampella was trapped in the wreckage.

Emergency services arrived quickly on the scene, but could no longer do anything for him. According to the CHP incident log, the accident was automatically reported via an Apple emergency signal.
